What do you get if you mix members of three bands ranging from alternative rock to emocore punk-rock, to death metal? In the case of Moon Shot, you get some great alternative rock with strong melodies, a splash of post-hardcore, and clean vocals. Or as the band itself likes to describe their music: True 21st-century rock that shoots beyond earthly pleasures with a cocktail of vision-affirming experience, mind buzzing melodies and lyrics that hurt in the right places.
As I mentioned in my article on Luna Kills a while back, Finland really excels in the rock genre (they also seem to have a common fascination with the moon, amirite?). The four guys in Moon Shot are no newcomers, however, with gigs galore under their belts as members of emocore punk-rock band Disco Ensemble, death metal outfit Children of Bodom and alt-rock quartet Lapko. And under their new configuration Moon Shot, they have no rules or restrictions based on what would be expected from their earlier bands. Or as the lads themselves put it: No compromises are allowed. Or necessary.
The Latest Single "Agony Walk"
The band already has four singles out, with some really high-grade music videos to back them. The song I heard first was Agony Walk, which really grabbed my attention with its great melodies and high energy. The song reminded me a bit of post-hardcore band Boysetsfire's more melodic offerings. I also read the band describe it as a fast and punchy post-hardcore song in a Finnish interview (cheers, Google Translate), so I guess I'm fairly on-point with that comparison.

The song Confession lets the instrumentals take the front seat with powerful riffs and harmonies. It will also serve as the title track of the upcoming album, set for release in October of 2021. Much looking forward to hearing the whole thing! Amazon already has the album listed, but at the time of writing, you can only purchase the four singles that will be included on the LP.

Until the upcoming Moon Shot album "Confession" comes out, you can check out some music of the members' other bands below. Disco Ensemble and Lapko are the ones I would recommend looking into first if you like Moon Shot, while Children of Bodom was a more brutal sounding metal band.
